"3 1/2 out of 5" - Buddha

Here's a movie that when I first read a few articles in Fangoria about, it looked like it may be a pretty bad ass movie. Chris Pine (Star Trek - James T. Kirk, Smoking Ace-Darwin Tremor), Hollywood's latest COOL GUY is pretty much the only face you are going to recognize in this one except or a GREAT cameo by Christopher Meloni (Oz, Law and Order SVU, Freakshow, and Harold and Kumar go to White Castle).

I'm not one to actually feel for characters in movies but Meloni plays a father to a daughter who has been stricken with a disease that has hit the world and practically has killed off everyone. Bravo, to the little girl who plays his daughter because when it comes to their last scene you actually feel for both the little girl and her father. BRAVO.

Basically I already told you what is going on in this one. An extremely infectious disease, that they never really go into all that much, exists and it has killed millions of people on the planet and continues to infect anyone it encounters. You follow Pine along with his brother, his girlfriend and another girl who I believe is the brothers girlfriend, but maybe not, on their journey to a place where the brothers went when they were children and in their mind was a "safe" place to be. The movie is mainly about the relationships with these four characters and the things they need to do to survive. Some of which are pretty intense.

Overall, the movie is actually pretty good. There are times when it comes border line to slow but is still alright. This one is a RENTAL. It's worth checking out but you won't be missing too too much if it doesn't grace your screen.
