THE HILLS RUN RED

The Hills Run Red

"3 out of 4" - Vanilla Cobra

What we have here is one of the most unoriginal set-ups ever: Group of four go into the woods in search of a rare movie with the promise of being THE SCARIEST THING THEY'VE EVER SEEN.

So guess what happens they stumble onto the whereabouts of the creators and what ensues next is that they are being stalked and slayed by a mongloid killer (sound familiar) which happens to be the killer from the movie they're looking for.

So I guess you're wondering why I gave it my seal of approval. Because it's fucking awesome.

Even though we've seen all of this before: killer in the woods, psycho family living out in bumblefuck where no one can save them. But how everything in this movie comes together works because it is a good old fashioned slasher flick that actually does have an interesting plot.

The brutality of the kills is incredible and funny enough that every sound the victim makes before he bites the big one make a south park esqu death sound. the opening of the film is disgusting enough to any gorehound around and they will not be disappointed. ANyone in search of a boob fest, feast your eyes on the first 11 minutes of the flick. it very well rivals soft core porn.

all the characters were likable as well except for one subplot. How the fuck are you going to be cool with your best friend plowing your chick pretty much right in front of you when its apparently a big secret. other than that there weren't any real issues. The baby faced killer was a mix between Leatherface and Jason Voorhies, but did slash and gash his way into a good big screen killer. Even more memorable was the performance of the twisted director behind all the mayhem played by William Saddler.

The movie is definitly more concentrated about its brutality and violence. Anyone looking for a fun to watch, slasher gorefest should find refuge with The Hills Run Red. Probably debatable, but all in all i dug it for what it was.
