VANILLA COBRA'S REVIEW
Courageous yet geeky Colombus is one of few survivors on a zombie plagued Earth making his way through his daily routines by obliging by a list of rules he himself has created in order to survive. On his way he runs into Woody Harrelson and two manipulative sisters and away they go on their way through Zombieland.
I know many have appraised this as the funniest horror comedy of recent years and that may be true, but this movie to me was way to short and underdeveloped for its own good. Woody Harrelson is the man as the red neck, twinky fiending, Bill Murray enthusiast with a shootout scene that will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.
The film did have a lot of funny moments, but never made me feel like it lived up to it's hype. I wasn't overly disappointed, but wasn't blown away like my blue hair counterpart will surely prove on his column. No dispute that it's entertaining when the film opened with Metallica's From Whom the Bell Tolls I knew I was in for at least a fun hour and fifteen minutes, but this is one I can see disappearing in my memory banks. Unquestionably worth a look just because it is Woody the man Harrelson mowing down zombies, quoting and dancing around to the Ghost Busters theme song.
Maybe it's just I was expecting more, but there were points that it got kind of tacky with the love subplot between Colombus and the hotty from Superbad and the fact at points there wasn't really a lot going on for being so short. Bill Murray pops up, Woody's a redneck what's really not to like? The flick only loses points due to it's lack of running time, but you can't win em all.
ACTING - Solid lead performance by mega dork Jesse Eisenberg and obviously Woody Harrelson is the man. Bill Murray cashed a check and Emma Stone looked sexy toting a firearm.
GORE - Done in a great comical fashion. All zombie contemporaries may apply.
BUDDHA'S REVIEW
Zombieland! Zombieland!! Zombieland!!! What more can I say about Zombieland?! Just like everyone who is into horror and into zombies, I was waiting for this movie to come out for months. There was a ton of hype going around about this one which did somewhat scare me since I always get all excited about it and then the movie is a let down compared to what I had imagined it to be. So I was as giddy as a sex fiend in a whore house when I was walking into this one but still a bit nervous.
So here it is: The movie starts off right as the zombie apocalypse is starting to take place with the main character Columbus. It gives you a little background with him and you learn the "RULES" to survive in the new land of the dead...the Zombieland!
Columbus while on his journey back to his home town in OH, comes across the man, the myth the legend...WOODY HARRELSON aka Tallahassee. Now I don't care what anyone says but Tallahassee is this generations ASH. If you don't know who i am talking about when I say ASH then just stop reading this because you don't even deserve to be reading this..kill yourself. But It is only a matter of time before there are some Tallahassee comics and Zombieland becomes a franchise based on that character. Ok ok ok let me get off his nuts now.
But Tallahassee and Columbus run into a couple of chicks who are a couple of fun con artists. Now, I've already talked ALOT about this movie so I am going to speed it up a bit. Everyone has already heard of possibly he greatest cameo in movie history of Bill Murray. He comes in and it is not nearly enough but he gives the performance of a lifetime and does things you have wanted to see him do in movie since he stared in Ghosbusters!
This movie is a MUST SEE!!! SEE IT IN THEATERS BUY IT WHEN IT COMES OUT!! RENT IT! DO what ever you have to do to see this movie!! THIS MOVIE IS A CLASSIC IN THE MAKING AND POSSIBLY THE BEST ZOMBIE MOVIE OF THE YEAR AND RIGHT NEXT TO THE HANGOVER FOR THE FUNNIEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!!
